Ednan Shahid passes away

LAHORE: Ednan Shahid, the Editor of The Post and the elder son of Zia Shahid, the Chief Executive of Khabrain Group of Newspapers, passed away in London in the wee hours of Saturday after a heart attack. He was 37.

Funeral prayers for Ednan Shahid, the son of Chief Executive of Khabrain Group of Newspapers Zia Shahid and editor of The Post, will be held at 5/N Model Town Extension at 3:00pm today (Friday).

Ednan was on his way back from the United States after the medical check-up of his father. He was stated to be in good health. However, during his one-day transit in London, he had a heart attack which proved fatal. He was originally scheduled to reach Lahore Sunday.

Ednan went to an airline office for confirmation of return tickets to Pakistan Friday evening. On his way back, he had the heart attack. He was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, but could not survive. He had never suffered from a heart-related problem in the past.

His wife Humaria Awais Shahid is the Editor Magazines of The Post and a member of the Punjab Assembly. He is survived by a son and two daughters. His younger brother Imtinan Shahid is the Editor of daily Khabrain.
