PM Kakar Arrives in China for 3rd BRF

Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar has arrived in China to participate in the ‘3rd Belt and Road Forum (BRF) for International Cooperation,’ where he is scheduled to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The Prime Minister’s Office statement also noted that Prime Minister Kakar will engage with a delegation of Chinese think tanks and scholars during his stay in Beijing.

Notably, bilateral relations between Pakistan and Russia have witnessed recent improvements, highlighted by the arrival of Russian crude shipments as part of an earlier agreement. Pakistan further expanded its cooperation with Russia by receiving its first shipment of liquefied petroleum gas from Moscow last month.

Upon his arrival in China, Prime Minister Kakar was warmly welcomed by Chinese Minister of Science & Technology, Wang Zhigang, Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong, and Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, Moin-ul-Haq.

This visit, extended as an invitation from China’s President Xi Jinping, has brought together a high-level delegation that includes cabinet members and senior government officials.

The Prime Minister’s schedule for this visit encompasses participation in the BRF Opening Ceremony and attendance at the High-Level Forum titled ‘Connectivity in an Open Global Economy,’ slated for October 18, 2023.

During his stay, Prime Minister Kakar is also expected to conduct bilateral meetings with President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Qiang, and Mr. Li Xi, a member of the Standing Committee of the Politburo of the CPC Central Committee. These meetings will address multiple facets of bilateral relations, with a particular focus on enhancing trade and economic cooperation, as well as discussions on key regional and global developments.
