Pakistan Clinches Thrilling 21-Run Victory Over New Zealand

In a thrilling encounter, Pakistan secured a remarkable 21-run victory over New Zealand, ensuring their hopes for World Cup success stay alive. New Zealand had posted an imposing score of 401-6, while Pakistan, at 160-1 in the 21st over, faced a rain interruption. Despite their fourth consecutive loss, New Zealand maintains the fourth position in the standings, while Pakistan, with four wins in eight matches, rises to fifth with one game remaining.

India has already secured a semifinal berth, and South Africa is well on its way to the last four. This leaves Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan, and Afghanistan in a fierce competition for the remaining two slots, setting the stage for an intense race to the finish.

Following a revised target of 342 runs in 41 overs, Fakhar Zaman’s brilliant 126 and Captain Babar Azam’s 66 propelled Pakistan to 200-1 in the 26th over when rain intervened once more, sealing Pakistan’s victory thanks to their superior required run rate.

Actor Arsalan Naseer shared his thoughts on Twitter, stating, “You deserve a place in the finals only if you can chase a mammoth total like this, earn this one Pakistan.” Shoaib Akhtar expressed, “Qudrat ka Nizam aur @FakharZamanLive. What a freak day we’ve had. What a knock!”
