A lower court in Islamabad granted the police a two-day physical remand for former information minister Fawad Chaudhry. Fawad was driven to court in an armored vehicle with his face covered by a black cloth. His wife Hiba Chaudhry and brothers attended the hearing.
Faisal Chaudhry, Fawad’s brother and lawyer, objected to the police’s action of covering his face.
The prosecution requested a five-day remand, but the court approved a two-day remand.
The court read out the First Information Report (FIR) against Fawad, revealing that he had been detained on charges of accepting a Rs5,000,000 bribe from a job seeker.
Muhammad Zaheer, the complainant, alleged that Fawad threatened to kill him when he demanded his money back.
Fawad expressed concerns about the complainant’s absence during the court hearing. He also informed the court of his need for medical care due to a lung condition.
