LAHORE – The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the appointment of former spinner Tauseef Ahmed as the interim chief selector for the upcoming Australia series later this year. Tauseef Ahmed, who previously served as a member of the selection working under Inzamamul Haq, will be responsible for forming the team for the upcoming series.
This development follows the recent resignation of Inzamamul Haq from his position amid allegations of an association with a UK-based player agency. Inzamamul Haq stepped down as the chairman of the national men’s selection committee and junior selection committee on October 30. He had taken over as chairman of the national men’s committee on August 7, 2023, and was also appointed chairman of the junior men’s selection committee earlier in the same month.
Inzamamul Haq explained, “I am resigning from the post to allow the PCB to conduct a transparent inquiry into the conflict of interest allegations reported in the media. If the committee finds me not guilty, I will resume my role as the chief selector.”
Following Inzamamul Haq’s resignation, the PCB established a five-member fact-finding committee to investigate the conflict of interest allegations related to the team selection process, as reported in the media. The committee is currently in the process of compiling its findings.
