KPK Caretaker Cabinet Approves 10% Salary Increase for Trainee Doctors

Hamna

The caretaker cabinet of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, chaired by Interim CM Azam Khan, recently approved a 10% salary increase for trainee doctors in public hospitals. This decision followed a thorough review of recommendations from both the health department and trainee doctors during a cabinet meeting.

While the trainee doctors had initially sought a higher increase of 30%, and the health department proposed a 25% surge, the cabinet ultimately settled on a 10% raise. This decision was influenced by a consideration of the current economic situation in the country.

In a concerning development reported by KP Health Advisor Riaz Anwar, the province has been grappling with a Diphtheria outbreak. According to Anwar, the disease has affected 269 people, resulting in 17 fatalities.
