In the Defence Phase 7 area, a tragic accident unfolded, causing injuries to several individuals. The collision occurred as the family of Rafaqat Ali, returning from a social gathering, found themselves in a devastating crash involving two cars, as reported by local law enforcement.

The victims of this heart-wrenching incident included Rukhsana, 3-year-old Anabia, 4-month-old Huzaifa, Muhammad Hasnain, Sajjad, and Ayesha. Despite immediate efforts to save them, all family members, including the children, sustained severe injuries and were rushed to Lahore General Hospital. Tragically, they succumbed to their injuries during the course of treatment.

The driver, accused of over-speeding and reckless driving, has been apprehended, and a case has been registered against him. Authorities are diligently investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision to ascertain the events leading up to the tragedy.

Expressing condolences over the loss, Interim Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi and other officials have called for a comprehensive report on the accident. The grief over the incident is palpable, with local authorities extending their sympathies to the bereaved family and the community affected by this unfortunate event.

It’s worth noting that central and northern regions, including Lahore, often experience heavy fog during the winter, contributing to hazardous road conditions. The country, grappling with a lamentable record of fatal traffic accidents, attributes such incidents to poor infrastructure, inadequately maintained vehicles, and a prevalence of reckless driving. Authorities continue to address these issues to enhance road safety and prevent further tragedies.
