It was again a dark day for the batting line of Pakistan as they bowled out on the score of 177 on the first day of the Second Test Match at Newlands.
Faf Du Plessis won the toss and asked Pakistan to bat. And the Pakistani batsmen again let their fans down expect Shan Masood and Sarfraz Ahmed who scored 44 and 56 respectively.
South African bowlers were again on the top of their game. Among the bowlers, D Olivier was again outstanding and took 4 wickets by giving away just 48 runs. He took the wickets of Azhar Ali, Babar Azam, Sarfraz Ahmed, and Yasir Shah. Also, Steyn got 3 wickets, Rabada got 2 and Philander took a wicket.
After tea, South Africa started their innings and batted brilliantly. AK Markram was the man who found his form and scored 78 from 96 that turned the first day into the favor of South Africa.
At Stumps, South Africa is 123/2, only 54 behind. Pakistan has to perform far better than what they did today. Abbas is back, so he should ball on the right areas along with other bowlers to get South Africa out early.
