Indian Army Chief Welcomes Peace Talk with Taliban

Indian Army Chief General Bipin Rawat welcomed the peace talks with Afghan Taliban. He said that talks with Taliban are in the interest of us and Afghanistan itself along with Pakistan.

In an event organized by the Observer Research Foundation and Ministry of External Affairs, General Rawat showed his concern over the alarming situation in Afghanistan. He added that as long as there are no preconditions, it is good to see that peace talks are on their way with Afghan Taliban.

He added that there should be no preconditions behind any talks with the terrorists or any organization of this type. We want peace and it is a good step to bring stability in the region of Afghanistan. It is in our interests as well as favorable conditions in Afghanistan are also in the interest of Pakistan.

He further explained that a peaceful solution to the 17 years long war is essential. Pakistan has been working with Washington and Kabul to stop the terrorists’ activities and bring peace in the region.

The role of Pakistan is important and it has facilitated peaceful talks between the US Officials and Afghan Taliban. But there is more to come.
