DRAP approves 9 to 15% increase in medicine prices

Islamabad: The Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) has issued the notification related to the increment in the price of life-saving drugs and other medicines on Friday.

The federal government approved the DRAP notification regarding the increment of 9% in the price of life-saving drugs and 15% in the price of other medicines.

Due to the increasing value of U.S Dollar and decreasing value of Pakistani rupee, DRAP took the initiative to increase the medicine prices across the country.

It is important to know that many pharmaceutical companies had been demanding this increase for quite some time in medicines’ prices. They also threatened to stop the medicine supplies. Due to which, the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan have now accepted their demands and issued the notification to increase the prices.

According to the notification, it will be mandatory for the companies to mention the price of the medicines on packing.
