Suman Pawan Bodani, the daughter of Dr. Pawan Bodani is declared the first female judge from Hindu Community of Pakistan. She has been selected as a Civil and Judicial magistrate. It has been the very first time in Pakistan’s History that a woman from minority came forward to hold a distinguished position in law. Suman Bodani belongs to Shahdadkot district of Sindh. She secured 54th position in the merit list after passing the Judicial Officers’ examination.

Showing her pleasure during an interview to a foreign news channel, Suman Bodani says that she belongs to a backward area of Sindh where the people have to struggle to cope up with a lot of challenges. She further says that the people of her area even cannot afford the fees to lodge their cases. That’s why she decided to study law so that she could bring justice to them. She continues that her family never bothered what the people were saying. Her family always encouraged her to study further and helped her achieve her goal.

Hindu Community makes 2% of Pakistan’s population and it is not the first time that a member of this community came forward. Earlier, Justice Rana Bhagwandas had been appointed as the fourth chief justice of Pakistan. Krishna Kumari, the member of Pakistan People’s Party had been also elected as a Senate member. She is the first Hindu Women to be the Senate member. But in law, Suman Bodani is the first Hindu lady who came forward as a Civil and Judicial Judge.
