Govt Rejects Plea for Removing Nawaz Sharif’s Name from ECL

ISLAMABAD: The Interior Ministry has rejected the application for removing the name of Nawaz Sharif from the ECL.

According to the sources, in October 2018, three applications were filed for removing the names of Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz and Captain Safdar from the Exit Control List. They stated in the claims that they were not involved in financial crime, conspiracy against the government and terrorism. That’s why they wanted the Government to remove their names from the ECL. But the Government has rejected their applications. The applications have been turned down. Their names had been added to the Exit Control List on August 20, 2019. Prime Minister Imran Khan decided in a cabinet meeting then to put their names in ECL.
