Recent Updates: NAB grants 3-day transit remand of Agha Siraj Durrani, Sindh Assembly Speaker. It happened the very first time in Pakistan’s history that the present Speaker Assembly has been arrested.

ISLAMABAD: The NAB Islamabad has arrested Agha Siraj Durrani, Sindh Assembly Speaker today.

According to the sources, the NAB was probing him for illegal appointments, assets beyond income and corruption in the funds. On the time of his arrest, he was present in a private hotel from where he was taken to the NAB office, Rawalpindi. The NAB has conducted a meeting where the officials were informed that Durrani is currently present in Islamabad. So, the NAB formed an arresting party.

After a medical examination, the NAB will present him before the accountability court. Once, the transit remand of Durrani is secured he will be shifted to Karachi. The NAB has been probing him for three cases since 2018. The allegations against him include appointing 352 individuals to different Government posts, misuse of the funds issued for MPA Hostels and new Sindh Assembly building and owning assets beyond resources.
