ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan has accepted the bail plea of former PM Nawaz Sharif on medical grounds.
According to the source, on Tuesday, a three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Asif Saeed Khosa granted the bail to Nawaz Sharif for six weeks. It has only been granted on medical grounds. In this duration, he is bound to not to leave the country.
However, he is free to get medical treatment from any hospital in Pakistan within 6 weeks. The former premier has been sentenced for seven year’s prison for corruption in Al Azizia Steel mill. Due to severe mental stress, he is suffering from some critical health issues.
The Supreme Court has considered the serious illness of Nawaz Sharif to accept the bail plea, but he cannot go abroad for treatment in the bail duration.
