ISLAMABAD: Another hike is going to have occurred in electricity prices. On Friday, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority has given approval of a summery to increase the electricity prices.

NEPRA has increased the price of electricity by Rs 1.49/unit. It will be applicable to all metropolitans except K-Electric. According to the source, the price will be applicable for not only residential but also for commercial, agricultural and industrial users.

NEPRA has increased the burden of Rs 189 billion on consumers by increasing Rs 1.49/unit. The residential and industrial consumers are continuously experiencing the increased tariff of electricity.

It may be partially due to an increase in dollar rate in Pakistan and hiked prices of furnace oil. Furnace oil is used to generate electricity. According to estimation, 112.35GWh electricity is generated from furnace oil.
