KARACHI: Pakistan International Airline has the freedom to resume its flights for Toronto now. Earlier, it was operating only cargo flights for Toronto, Canada due to the deathly surge in COVID-19.
According to a PIA spokesperson, the airline’s CEO assured the Canadian government that the SOPs of Corona will be followed strictly during the operation. Once the government showed its consent, the PIA spokesperson announced that now, the national airline will resume passenger flights for Toronto, Canada. Currently, it is offering consecutive flights, but now, the Canadian government has permitted the national carrier to resume direct flights.
According to the PIA representative, the national airline will start three flights per week from Pakistan to Toronto. Later, it will resume more flights per week. It is important to mention that the crew and ground staff members of this airline have got a vaccination for Corona. Currently, the airline employees are going through the process of vaccination. It is worth mentioning that PIA is the first airline in South Asia that has gone through the process of Corona vaccination.
So, people going to Toronto, Canada need to be very careful because they have to follow the Corona SOPs and the standard operating procedures strictly. After the approval of flights from the Canadian government, the CEO of the airline Air Marshal Arshad Malik has directed the officials to start the promotion of PIA tickets as much as they can. Due to the response of the public, it is assumed that the first direct flight for Toronto will take place on Sunday.
However, it is a strict condition for travelers that they will present the COVID vaccination certificate and a negative COVID test report during their travel to the airport. Earlier, Canadian authorities set some partial restrictions on travelers due to the uncontrollable spread of COVID-19 around the world. Now, the passengers can buy new tickets to travel through PIA. The authorities have also stated that a person, who has already bought a ticket, can utilize that ticket subject to meet the standard terms and conditions.
