IHC orders Imran Khan to submit a written reply again within seven days in a Contempt Case

Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court Athar Minullah has ordered Imran Khan to submit his reply within seven days in the contempt of court case as the previous one was “disappointing”.

The court has appointed senior jurists Makhdoom Ali Khan, Munir A. Malik, and a representative of the Pakistan Bar Council as judicial assistants in the case.

PTI Chairman and former Prime Minister Imran Khan appeared in the Islamabad High Court today in the contempt of court case accompanied by Hammad Azhar, Senator Shibli Faraz, and Faisal Javed.

The contempt case was filed against Imran Khan for threatening a female judge. However, IHC has summoned Imran Khan personally by issuing a show-cause notice of contempt of court for making a ‘threatening’ statement regarding Additional Sessions Judge Zeba Chaudhary.

In the response submitted to IHC, Imran Khan that if the court thinks that his words are inappropriate, then he is ready to take back his words. During the hearing, CJ IHC said that he is disappointed with the reply submitted by Khan stating, “the written response does not indicate if Imran Khan realizes what he has done”.

A five-member larger bench comprising Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, Justice Mian Gul Hasan Aurangzeb, Justice Babar Sattar, and Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri, headed by Chief Justice Athar Minullah of the High Court heard the case. On this occasion, strict security arrangements were made in the High Court and on the roads leading to it.
