IHC Decides to Indict Imran Khan on September 22 in contempt of court case: Verdict Announced

September 8, 2022: As per IHC decision, Imran Khan to be indicted in a contempt of court case on September 22, 2022 after he failed to satisfy the court with his replies on a case filed against him for allegedly making threatening remarks about additional Sessions Judge.

A 5-member bench of IHC including Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, Justice Mian Gul Hasan Aurangzeb, Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri, and Justice Babar Sattar and headed by Chief Justice Athar Manullah heard the contempt of court case against Imran Khan regarding threatening female judge Zeba Chaudhary. Strict security arrangements were made around IHC on the occasion of Imran Khan appearance in the court.

IHC Chief Justice showed dissatisfaction over Imran Khan’s statement submitted yesterday in court. He said that Islamabad High Court gave Imran Khan a chance to apologize in the contempt case, but he once again expressed regret over his words of threat rather than apologizing unconditionally.

“We have told you during the last hearing that it is a criminal contempt. Your client has spoken regarding a judge hearing an ongoing case,” CJ remarked. “ The written response does not indicate if Imran Khan realizes what he has done,” he added.
