Federal Finance Minister Miftah Ismail formally announced his resignation from his post. In one of his tweets on 25 September 2022, Miftah Ismail said, ‘Today, in a meeting with Nawaz Sharif and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, I have verbally resigned from the post of Finance Minister. I will formally resign after reaching Pakistan. It is an honor to serve twice as the Finance Minister”.
In London, a party meeting was held under the chairmanship of Nawaz Sharif, in which the political situation of the country was discussed in detail. On this occasion, Federal Finance Minister Miftah Ismail verbally resigned as Finance Minister and will formally resign after reaching Pakistan.
According to Pakistan’s Information Minister Maryam Aurangzeb, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif appreciated Miftah Ismail’s efforts in carrying out his responsibilities under the most difficult circumstances. She further informed that Nawaz Sharif and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have nominated Senator Ishaq Dar as Finance Minister.
Ishaq Dar is returning to Pakistan to provide support to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on the economic front, where he is likely to hold the key portfolio of the Finance Ministry. It should be noted that the Accountability Court of Pakistan has recently suspended the permanent warrants of Ishaq Dar till 7 October 2022 in the NAB reference of assets more than income, after which he has decided to return to Pakistan.
While talking to the media, Ishaq Dar said that he is leaving for Pakistan tomorrow along with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. He will take oath as a Finance Minister on Wednesday.
