Pakistan Women’s Squad Announced for Bangladesh Tour

LAHORE: The national selection committee, led by Saleem Jaffar, has revealed a 15-member squad for the forthcoming Bangladesh tour slated for later this month. Pakistan is gearing up to embark on their journey to Bangladesh on October 20, where they will be participating in a six-match white-ball series, featuring three ODIs, as a part of the ICC Women’s Championship 2022-25. The complete series schedule will be provided by the home board in the coming days.

Iram Javed, an experienced player who last represented Pakistan during the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham in 2022, is making a significant return to the national squad. Earlier this year, Iram also contributed to Super Women’s performance in the three women’s exhibition T20 matches against Amazons in Rawalpindi.

In contrast, Shawaal Zulfiqar and Syeda Aroob Shah, who were part of the squad that played in the white-ball series against South Africa in Karachi last month, have not been included in the current squad. Meanwhile, Fatima Sana, who sustained an injury during the second ODI against South Africa, is still in the process of recovery. Notably, both Shawaal and Aroob are among the 28 probables currently attending the training camp for the Pakistan women’s emerging team in Muridke. This emerging team is gearing up for participation in a bilateral series and a triangular tournament, which will also involve the emerging teams of West Indies and Thailand later this month.
