Islamabad Shuts Margalla Hiking Trails Over Severe Rainfall Alert

Islamabad authorities have sealed off all hiking trails in the Margalla Hills for the next two days following a forecast of heavy rains in the capital.

A notification issued Saturday by the deputy commissioner’s office said the closure is a precautionary step to avoid accidents such as landslides and flash floods, both of which are common in the area during intense downpours.

The order bars visitors from accessing any of the popular trekking routes for the next 72 hours. Officials also urged residents to steer clear of unnecessary travel to hilly terrain until weather conditions stabilize.

The decision reflects Islamabad’s increasing focus on disaster preparedness, especially as unpredictable weather patterns in recent years have led to frequent flooding and road blockages in the region.
