Parking at Islamabad International Airport just got more expensive. The airport has increased its parking fees, drawing criticism from travelers and visitors who say the decision adds unnecessary financial pressure.
Steeper Fees for Short and Long Stays
Under the revised rates, visitors will now pay Rs 120 for the first three hours of parking, up from Rs 90. After that, each additional hour will cost Rs 70, compared to the previous Rs 50.
The new pricing affects both short-term visitors—such as those dropping off or picking up passengers—and those parking for longer durations.
Complaints Mount Over Rising Costs
Passengers and their families have voiced frustration over the hike, saying it’s particularly burdensome for people making brief visits to the airport. Arguments between visitors and parking contractors have reportedly become more frequent since the new charges came into effect.
Some travelers argue that while airport services continue to become more expensive, the quality of facilities hasn’t seen a noticeable improvement.
Awaiting Official Clarification
The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has yet to issue a formal statement explaining the rationale behind the fee increase. PAA spokesperson Saifullah Khan has been contacted for comment but has not responded at the time of reporting.
