Tragic Food Poisoning in Lahore Leaves Two Sisters Dead, Restaurant Staff in Custody

LAHORE – A family dinner at a Lahore eatery turned into tragedy after two young sisters died from suspected food poisoning, police confirmed Sunday.

Authorities say six-year-old Tahreem and her four-year-old sister Arha fell critically ill shortly after eating at Rolling Palace, a restaurant located on PIA Road, on the night of August 16. Despite receiving medical treatment, both girls died within hours. Their younger brother, who also consumed the food, is recovering and no longer in danger, according to hospital sources.

Police Crack Down on Restaurant Staff

Following a complaint filed by the children’s father, Azeem, Lahore police registered a case at Satu Katla Police Station. On the instructions of DIG Operations Faisal Kamran, officers quickly detained the restaurant’s owner and kitchen staff as part of a criminal investigation.

Kamran stated that the probe would examine every angle of the incident, emphasizing that those responsible would face justice if negligence is confirmed.

Food Safety Concerns in Spotlight

The deaths have sparked renewed concern over food safety and restaurant hygiene in Lahore, where incidents of food contamination have made headlines before. Authorities are expected to conduct forensic testing of the food and kitchen environment as part of their inquiry.
