The death toll from Tuesday’s deadly explosion in Quetta has risen to 15, with dozens more fighting for their lives in hospitals, officials confirmed on Wednesday.
The blast ripped through Sariab Road near Shahwani Stadium, a busy part of the city, leaving scenes of chaos as rescue workers rushed victims to Civil Hospital Quetta. Hospital staff reported receiving 13 bodies and treating at least 38 injured people, several of whom remain in critical condition.
Security Tightened, Inquiry Launched
Balochistan’s Home Department has ordered an immediate probe to determine the cause of the attack, while security forces sealed off the area to gather forensic evidence.
Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti condemned the bombing, vowing that “terrorist designs will not succeed” and pledging to bring those responsible to justice.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far, but the region has seen sporadic militant violence in recent years, often targeting security personnel and public spaces.
