PTCL Faces Nationwide Internet Disruptions

Large parts of Pakistan experienced internet service interruptions on Tuesday after a fault was detected in Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited’s (PTCL) fiber-optic network.

The company confirmed the issue, saying its technical teams were already working on urgent repairs. “Services will be fully restored shortly,” a PTCL spokesperson assured.

Although the exact number of affected regions wasn’t disclosed, users across several cities reported slow speeds and complete outages, disrupting both household and business connectivity.

PTCL, which carries a significant portion of Pakistan’s internet backbone, often faces heavy criticism whenever outages occur, as its infrastructure underpins not only home broadband but also services of other telecom operators.

For now, the company has not provided a timeline for complete restoration, but officials have emphasized that normal service should resume soon.
