Deadly Feud Over ‘Honour’ Claims Two Lives in Kandhkot-Kashmore

KANDHKOT-KASHMORE, Sindh — A long-simmering feud between two factions of the Mirani clan erupted into deadly violence on Tuesday, leaving a young woman and a 20-year-old man dead in the village of Dad Mohammad Mirani, located in the Tangwani tehsil.

According to local residents and police sources, tensions had been building between the two sides for some time, reportedly stemming from a dispute linked to so-called ‘honour’ — a recurring trigger for tribal and familial conflicts in the region. On Tuesday, the hostility escalated to a full-blown gunfight involving automatic weapons.

The victims have been identified as Alisha Mirani and Asad Mirani. Four individuals were hit by gunfire during the clash; two died instantly, while others sustained injuries, one of whom was named as Ghulam Nabi. Authorities have not confirmed if the deceased were directly involved in the fighting or were bystanders caught in the crossfire.

As night fell, sporadic gunfire continued to echo through the village, with both rival groups reportedly entrenched in defensive positions within their homes.

Police from the Ghouspur station have cordoned off the area, with reinforcements deployed to prevent further bloodshed. Officials say efforts are ongoing to defuse the situation, though the threat of continued violence looms.

This incident is a stark reminder of the deadly consequences of unresolved tribal disputes and the prevalence of vigilante justice in remote areas of Sindh, where state authority often struggles to maintain lasting peace.
