Jazz Dismisses Audit Criticism, Cites PTA-Approved Operations

Telecom giant Jazz has pushed back against findings in the Auditor General of Pakistan’s (AGP) latest audit of the telecom sector, stressing that all of its services comply fully with national regulations.

The AGP’s 2024–25 report flagged concerns regarding aspects of the company’s operations. In response, Jazz said it has provided documented evidence showing that every tariff and service plan is cleared in advance by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA). The operator emphasized that approvals are obtained through established regulatory procedures, leaving little room for irregularities.

“Each of our offerings undergoes a transparent approval process, and all mandated contributions are paid on time,” the company said in its rebuttal, reassuring customers that its services are both affordable and regulator-approved.

Industry observers note that disputes between regulators, auditors, and telecom operators are not new in Pakistan’s telecom sector, where revenue reporting, spectrum payments, and tariff approvals often spark contention. Jazz’s strong response signals its intent to maintain public trust while reminding stakeholders of the PTA’s central role in approving and overseeing telecom operations.

By framing the issue around compliance records and institutional oversight, Jazz is aiming to shift focus away from audit observations and highlight its adherence to established regulatory frameworks.
